1990 Chateau Haut Bailly, Pessac Leognan

The 1990 was probably my wine of the night. It has an opulence and fatness to the fruit on the nose that immediately adds a lush impression to the typical Haut-Bailly elegance and finesse, with those cedary notes and hints of gentle spice. On the palate it is full and delicious, sweeping over the palate with beautifully delineated, almost minty black fruits and an undertow of earthy, softness. Then the ripe, svelete tannins and elegant acidity grip and extend the finish. Fabulous stuff. 94 points, Tom Cannavan
